Figure drawing thoughts

Tomorrow will be my last day of my first figure drawing class and here’s my thoughts.

Figure drawing is such a beautiful art form!

When I started my mindset was that it was like realism or almost like trying to take a picture of the human form. It didn’t feel like it had much personality and an artist would have a hard time making it their own.

Oh how the turn tables.. figure drawing is so much more than that! The techniques and practice it takes to make a figure drawing is so impressive. The effort put into each

drawing is so much more impressive now that I’ve tried it on a smaller level.

The models are so impressive too! Their ability to stay in the same pose for so long is amazing and very impressive.

I’ve also started learning all about charcoal and it’s fantastic! It’s so easy to move and mold. My favorite way to use it right now is on the coffee toned paper I made earlier in the month. Fantastic stuff!

So what I’m trying to get at is I loved it. It is definitely one of my new favorite art genres and one that I will try and be apart of more often. I will be taking another figure drawing class soon and I am very very excited for it!
